 Accomplished Equestrian
Barbra Schulte has been involved with horses her entire life. From early
childhood through college she helped market and show top horses for the
family business. In college, Barbra studied speech pathology and
audiology. After a four-year career as a speech pathologist, her husband, Tom,
encouraged her to return to cutting. From 1982 to the present, Barbra
trained cutting horses professionally. From 1987 to 1992, horses trained and
shown by Barbra won monies totaling more than $735,000 and earned
multiple national and regional championship titles.
A Certified Personal Performance Coach
In 1987, Barbra discovered the book Mental Toughness Training for
Sports by Dr. James Loehr of LGE Sports Science Inc. Applying the
performance training techniques, Barbra broke gender barriers by becoming
the first woman to win the NCHA Derby, NCHA Super Stakes and The
Augusta Futurity. Her amateur clients also won at the national level.
Mentally tough describes Barbra Schulte. Having successfully trained and
shown cutting horses professionally, Barbra made a difficult decision to alter
her career path within the horse industry. She realized that her unique
personal passion with horses involved two parts - to train and show cutting
horses and a deep desire to understand and teach riders to reach peak
performance levels under pressure. Intrigued by the Mentally Tough
program, Barbra opted to give up her successful horse training business to
become certified as LGE's exclusive equestrian coach. LGE Sports Science
Inc. is the world leader in personal performance training and Barbra Schulte
pioneered the integration of personal performance training into the equestrian
world.
 Barbra is the only Mentally Tough instructor licensed to provide mental,
physical and emotional training for equestrians. Her program, "Mentally
Tough Training for Riders", is not discipline specific. Open to all riders,
Barbra shares her expertise by giving presentations, clinics and keynote
addresses at major horse shows and expositions and private facilities.
Barbra also produces technical cutting clinics in the United States, Australia
and Europe.
A Pioneer in Mental Training Educational Materials
Through the Center for Equestrian Performance (CEP) Barbra has
developed a line of educational products, including a newsletter; a Mentally
Tough workbook and performance enhancement audio tape course; two
individual audio cassettes addressing riding and coaching skills; a three-part
cutting video series; a barrel racing audio series and a newly released cutting
book. New product plans for 1999 include the release of the first Mentally
Tough Riding video for all disciplines".
A Superstar Equestrian Career
Some of
Barbara's career highlights include serving as past vice president of
the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA); twice being a guest on
ESPN's program, "America's Horse"; and being a representative of the
NCHA on "Good Morning America". She is a syndicated columnist for three
national publications and has had recent feature articles in major equine
publications including Horse and Rider, Equus, The Quarter Horse
Journal and Western Horseman.
With her tremendous success as a horsewoman and intense LGE training,
Barbra is well-equipped to be the equine industry pioneer for high
performance training. She is a knowledgeable and inspirational clinician,
lecturer and speaker. When she has the time, Barbra continues to train and
show young cutting horses in national events. She is married to Tom Schulte
and is the mother of 15 year old Zane Schulte. |
